Concrete Estimating and Takeoff

Fix Estimator has been offering concrete estimating services to general contracting firms, concrete contractors, home builders, and real estate developers for many years. Typically, contractors participating in sidewalks, driveways, and paving must labor on-site to complete the fieldwork and require assistance in estimating accurately for bidding proposals.

We have a specialized concrete cost estimator for division 3 trades qualified with American estimator organizations such as the American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) for concrete takeoff services.

Our Estimation Process

The concrete estimation process begins with thoroughly examining the client’s drawing designs to determine the extent of the work. Then, an on-screen takeoff is performed utilizing digital software such as Bluebeam, Planswift, Accubid, etc. Furthermore, the amounts are transferred into EXCEL spreadsheets with descriptions.

Our concrete takeoff spreadsheet itemizes the following quantities:

  • The amount of concrete needed for slabs, piers, footings, headers, grade beams, tie beams, foundation walls, columns, lintels, platforms, steps, and other similar structures, including an estimate of transportation expenses and the necessary equipment, such as cranes, pumps, mixers, and so on.
  • The price of concrete formwork. It depends on the type of formwork, whether you buy or rent it, repairs, accompanying equipment, transport cost, labor, etc.
  • Also, the price of reinforcements in concrete, such as structural rebar, wire mesh, plastic mesh, stirrups, dowels, commentators, etc.

RSMeans and our construction cost database estimate material, labor, and equipment costs for up-to-date and zip code-based pricing. Costs for site preparation or grading are determined, such as soil excavation, leveling, and compaction, as well as transportation, equipment, and labor.

The lead estimator does a last check to confirm that everything satisfies the client’s specifications.
